General Purpose of the Job

The Commercial Coordinator is responsible for commercial affairs with the customer and communication of these dealings within the organization.   The incumbent uses data to create strategies to foster business growth and make the current business more profitable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the program Cross Functional Teams (CFT’s) to ensure that new and current program financial goals for Contribution Margin (CM%), IRR, ROFE and EBIT are achieved.
  • Work with the team to prepare costing and customer quotations for production parts, prototypes, deviations, tooling, engineering changes, VAVE proposals and other cost initiatives throughout the life of the program. Manage the process for obtaining customer purchase orders. Maintain “cost walks” for program price changes.
  • Manage timeliness of requested quotations; develop and track KPI’s.
  • Manage all cost related issues with current customers and support negotiation favorable terms, conditions and premises on quotations.
  • Maintain written records of all agreements and unresolved issues with customers.  
  • Attend relevant customer meetings, both internal and external. 
  • Assist the Business Development team in the preparation of new business proposals for our company and customers as required.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all program pricing including (piece price, long-term agreements (LTA), perpetual tooling, metal indexes and pricing, etc.)
  • Maintain comprehensive support in ECN process and ensure proper signoffs for BOM changes by functional leads.
  • Assist with analysis of variances between current & future financial expectations
  • Prepare accurate and prompt cost calculation, ensuring the commercial success of the program
  • Support manufacturing operations in all aspects of the commercial side of the business
  • Continuously strengthen all systems, striving for excellence in all aspects of the project and business.
  • Any other duties, as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

The incumbent requires an Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year College or Technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.  

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in Microsoft Office,

Excel, Project, Word and Power Point.  Understanding of CAD would be beneficial

Ability to travel overnight on a frequent basis

Decision Making Authority

 Works within set parameters.
