Job Title: Human Resources Generalist                                          

Department: Human Resources                                                

Reports To: Human Resources Manager

SUMMARY

  • Perform generalist human resource duties required to support the plant.  Assist in recruitment and orientation. Process and coordinate benefit program including health insurance, workers' compensation. Actively participate in developing and sustaining a culture focused on productivity improvement and cost reduction.  Encourage and support teamwork.  Routinely use and promote team-oriented problem solving.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process and coordinate benefit program.  Make contact with carrier representative to resolve coverage or claim questions.  Respond to questions from employees on benefit plan, coverage and claim processing in a positive and timely manner. Enroll new associates in benefit program.  Conduct new employee benefit orientation.
  • Manage Hourly Recruitment efforts including, but not limited to, candidate selection and onboarding. Initiates and ensures all pre-employment requirements are complete and candidate as cleared
  • Assist in the maintenance and/or implementation of the company’s safety program.
  • Compile various reports out of the Time & Attendance System and Payroll System.
  • Perform various audits to ensure data accuracy. 
  • Administer the employee badge system and oversee uniforms.
  • Attendance and payroll administration: process hourly and salaried payroll, verify detail punch reports and make necessary corrections. Calculate hourly vacation pay and hours; Prepare payroll hours. Complete and transmit necessary paperwork for vacation pay, sickness protection pay, and personal leave benefits. Respond to associate payroll related questions.
  • Support the HR Manager, HR Director and Corporate Payroll in various HR related activities.
  • Perform a variety of other Human Resources related responsibilities including setting up new associate files, maintaining hourly associate files, updating attendance records and vacation log.
  • Responsible for ensuring that HR compliance activities are completed timely and accurately
  • Conduct affairs in an ethical manner consistent with company expectations of fair and respectful treatment of others.  Actively support company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.  The list of essential functions is not exhaustive.  It only defines some of the main responsibilities.  The associate may be required to perform additional duties not listed.

 MINIMUM EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE

 Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Human Resources Management or related field preferred; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Manufacturing experience a plus

REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrates strong analytical and organizational skills necessary to serve as an ongoing resource to associates, researching and resolving complex problems, and providing support in the development, evaluation, enhancement and maintenance of activities and programs in all areas of HR.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience with an Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
  • Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) a plus.
  • Knowledge of compensation administration principles and procedures.
  • Knowledge of federal and state wage and salary laws and regulations.
  • Requires strong working knowledge of office procedure, file systems, record keeping, receptionist duties, and phone etiquette.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel: executives, management, and associates.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills necessary to process a variety of work concurrently and reevaluate priorities in accordance with changing workload demands. Attention to detail.
  • Self-starter, proactive in carrying out duties and responsibilities.
