Inside Sales Representative

We are a local wholesale distributor of building materials seeking an Inside Sales / Product Specialist for our Capitol Heights, MD branch. This is an excellent opportunity for a quality individual with a great customer service aptitude and a passion for construction and building materials. Related experience is preferred.

Our Inside Sales/Product Specialists assist walk-in customers, provide counter sales expertise, phone assistance, product education and other help. You will coordinate and work closely with our outside sales force, drivers and warehouse personnel to meet our customers’ needs in a timely and efficient manner.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Providing excellent customer service using professional communication skills; answering customer inquiries concerning price, qualifying product needs and partners with vendors for support.
-Accurately and promptly process customer transactions such as orders, quotes, or returns while continuing to provide excellent customer service.
-Providing accurate information regarding availability of in-stock items.
-Coordinating delivery and/or pick up of customer orders with the operations team.
-Educating customers on different products and their applications.
-Communicating with outside sales representatives on customer orders, requirements, problems or concerns and changes.
-Initiating product transfers to other branches.
-Generating, placing and confirming purchase orders with suppliers.
-Receiving payment for merchandise or services sold and log sales into the computer; responsible for payments received and adhering all administrative and accounting related procedures.
-Participating in the physical inventory of the warehouse materials.
-Participating in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
-Performing other duties as assigned.

This position requires the following:
-Two years prior sales or customer service experience preferred.
-Experience in the building supply & construction industry; residential and commercial roofing, siding products, fencing products, and/or knowledge of building envelope products preferred.
-Ability to quickly and thoroughly learn and retain product information and technical concepts..
-Problem solving skills with ability to handle stressful situations such as rejection, varying workload, and meeting deadlines.
-Willingness to take ownership responsibility for all assigned tasks.
-Accomplished customer services skills, strong listening and people skills.
-Excellent communication skills (both written and oral).
-Must be self-motivated and enthusiastic about our business.
-Excellent decision making and ability to take initiative independent of direct supervision.
-Extremely organized, strong attention to detail.
-Aptitude for navigating POS (Point of Sales) software.
-Must be ethical, honest, positive, and outgoing.
-Must be a team player. -Must be dependable and have a valid driver’s license.
